Make Your Own Taco Seasoning Mix

To use this easy recipe for Taco seasonings, simply use 2 Tablespoons of the mix for each envelope of taco seasoning needed in a recipe.

  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

In a small mixing bowl, thoroughly stir together all ingredients.  Store in an airtight, labeled container for up to six months.  Be sure to label the jar so you know what’s in it! :-)  I usually triple this recipe just because we like to use a lot of taco flavorings in our regular meals.

NOTE:  You can also add a teaspoon of cayenne OR red pepper flakes if this isn’t spicy enough for your tastebuds.

  1. Awesome! I recently got a spice rack from my secret pal at work, so I have all these spices. Is there any way you can set your blog up to have printer friendly versions of the recipes you post?

  2. Yeah, I’m not really sure how it’s done. I know Ree links directly to her own recipe cite; but most women I know don’t have their own ;) I think it’d be a great addition to your site (and would love a how-to on doing it over at Blogger, too!)

  4. How about using dried onions (like from Costco) instead of the onion powder.. that would work too, I think. Thanks good idea.. Debi! :-)
