Hi, I'm a teacher and I can say that the gifts I love the most are usually the home baked goods. Cookies, brownies, pies, etc. One of my former parents ocassionally bakes brownies and brings one square of warm brownie wrapped in plastic with ribbon to each of her child's current & former teachers. Let me tell you that is the best gift, yum! I also appreciate cards with a note included. Honestly, it is the thought that counts.

I have a self diagnosed OCD with cleaning, add an 18month old to the mix and you'll understand why 50% of my day is spent cleaning. I can't stand the sight of dirt and marks on my kitchen cupboards so a daily wipe down is the norm. However....inside the cupboards is another story. I have been meaning to tidy them up for weeks now and keep pushing the idea aside because its easier to just close them and move on lol. Good luck on finishing your spring clean, I'm at the starting point needless to say everyday!

Culling extra "stuff" from the kitchen is something we do at least yearly, if not a couple times a year. In our area, Goodwill prices have jumped quite a bit. Several times we find things priced higher than they would be new in a regular store! Disgusted with this, we looked for other options to pass on our unneeded, but in great shape, stuff. We found that the local shelters (both homeless shelters and those that provide "safe houses" or tranistionary housing to domestic violence victims ) are ALWAYS in need of stuff - esp kitchen, household stuff and good clothing in all shapes and sizes. Since they are also non-profits (and you can write the donations off your taxes!), I always suggest people drop of their best items there first, then dump the rest of the "less than perfect" items at Goodwill. The shelters will be way more appreciative of the donations, believe me! (We had one of the intake donation gals CRY in happiness when we dropped off 2 huge trash bags full of my stuffed bunnies a couple weeks before Easter.)

Just my two cents of suggestions. You get the happy fuzzy feelings of helping people who desparately need it in these hard times - and get to reclaim some of your kitchen space.
